To all our fans, families, coaches, trainers, players and everyone else that helps make the North York Rangers organization as incredible as it is. We want to wish you a Happy Holidays, and a happy and healthy New Years in 2025.
Before we look at 2025 let’s break down how the North York Rangers finished 2024. Four games in ten day stretch before an extended holiday break for the Rangers started December 10th when they hosted the Pickering Panthers.
Ervie Terwilliger (5) opened the scoring early in the second period but the Panthers would answer with two straight, Matthew Babiy (10) would tie the game up just before the end of the second as the teams were tied at 2-2 after two periods. Pickering would score two powerplay goals in the first 6 minutes of the period before Tyron Fevry (2) would cut the deficit to 4-3. Fevrys goal would be the final one of the game as none of the other 15 shots the Rangers threw on net in the third would beat Panthers goaltender Gavin Betts. This marked the first time in four December games the Rangers scored more than 2 goals in a game.
Next up was North Yorks first road game of the month against the Toronto Jr. Canadians. Late in the second period trailing 2-0 North York would get a powerplay goal from Matthew Babiy (11) to cut the deficit to just one entering the final period. But the Rangers were held scoreless in the third period and would go on to lose 3-1.
The following day the Rangers played their last home game of 2024 when they hosted the Caledon Admirals for the teams lone meeting of the season. 36 seconds into the game Tyron Fevry (3) would open the scoring to give North York an early lead. Caledon would score two times in the next three minutes and four consecutive handing the Rangers a 4-1 loss.
2024 ended the same way it started for the Rangers with a game against the Wellington Dukes, but this one coming on the road. Down 2-0 in the second period, Ervie Terwilliger (6) and Tyron Fevry (4) would score three minutes to tie the game at two. Despite outshooting Wellington 13-8 in the third period the Dukes scored the only two goals in the third period as the Rangers would go on to close the month with a 4-2 loss.
