Three weeks through the first month of 2025 and North York have been busy having played five games with another four to go before the month comes to a close. The Rangers started off on the road facing off against the Markham Royals.

A high scoring affair to open the 2025 year for North York, who led 3-0 after 1 period thanks to goals from Ervie Terwilliger (7), Cain Tucker (3) and Michael Zuyev (1). The teams combined for SEVEN goals in the second period… yes that’s right seven goals with the Rangers getting goals from Jacob Owsicki (8) and Connor Irwin (9) and the teams entered the third period tied at 5-5. That third period solved nothing and the game needed overtime guaranteeing both teams would come away with at least a point. The first overtime period couldn’t decide a winner, but the second overtime was brought to an end quickly with Tyron Fevry (5) scoring the game winner for the Rangers less than two minutes into the final period. The win giving North York a perfect start to 2025 in a 6-5 win.

A week later the Rangers continued their road trip taking on the reigning OJHL champion Collingwood Blues. North York hung around for the first two periods as they trailed just 3-0 after 40 minutes. Collingwood would double their lead in the third period going on to beat the Rangers by a score of 6-0.

Later that weekend North York hosted the Markham Royals for their second meeting in 9 days. Thanks to goals from Matthew Babiy (12) and Cain Tucker (4) the Rangers held a 2-1 lead after the opening period. Markham would score three unanswered in the second period and North York trailed 4-2 after the middle frame. Niko Economopoulos (3) would score shorthanded late in the third but Markham would ice the game with under two minutes left as the Rangers lose the rematch with the Royals 5-3.

Just two days later North York hosted the East leading Trenton Golden Hawks. Trenton put their dominance on full display in a 9-2 win over the Rangers. Matthew Babiy scored both Rangers goals giving him 14 on the season.

Lastly a trip south of the border to take on the Buffalo Jr. Sabres for the teams lone matchup all season. After 40:00 minutes North York had gotten just 9 shots on goal and trailed 3-0. Andrew Artenosi (2) would score the lone goal in the third period as the Jr. Sabres won 3-1 handing the Rangers their 4th consecutive loss.
