Gianluca Baggetta was superb between the pipes for the North York Rangers, as he did not allow a goal in a 4-0 victory over the Stouffville Spirit.
North York was sparked by Ryan Takamatsu, who tallied one goal. Takamatsu scored 15:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North York. Anthony Paveglio picked up the assist.
The Rangers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Stouffville to score on any of its five power plays. North York kept the Spirit’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Aaron Taylor made 39 saves on 43 shots.
North York also got points from Michael Morgan, who also registered one goal and one assist. North York also got a goal from Matthew Whittaker as well. In addition, North York received assists from Ted Hunt, who had one and Gabriel Valenzuela, who had three.
Stouffville was held below its usual level of production. The Spirit put an average of 3.7 pucks into the net per game. Stouffville forced the Rangers goalie Baggetta to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots.
