Gianluca Baggetta made 31 stops and the MSG line contributed six more points as the North York Rangers cruised past the Toronto Junior Canadiens 4-1 Wednesday.
The victory pushed the Rangers ahead of the Jr. Canadiens and the Burlington Cougars for second place in the South Division, and fourth in the OJHL Southwest Conference, heading into action Thursday.
Michael Morgan – the M in the so-called ‘MSG Line’ – added a pair for his fifth goal in his last two games, while Keegan Blasby’s power-play marker from the side of the net, and Louis Kereakou’s deft tip from a long-range Kyle Clarke wrister, was all the offence North York needed on the night.
Deadline acquisition Nick Ursitti beat Baggetta in alone 4:22 into the third period for the Jr. Canadiens’ only goal of the contest.
The Rangers will now rest on Thursday before heading to the Southwest Conference Showcase at Scotiabank Pond, with games Friday vs. the Orangeville Flyers, and Saturday vs. the same Toronto Jr. Canadiens club.
North York has 11 games left in the regular season.
