North York Rangers defencemen Ethan Best has officially committed to Calvin University of the ACHA Division 1. He will play for the Knights while attending one of the best academic institutions in the fall of 2022.
“Calvin is a fantastic school and offers both strong academics and athletics. I’m excited to have the opportunity to play there next season. I’m looking forward to furthering my education in Kinesiology and Pre-med while playing the game that I love. It’s everything I’ve been working towards,” Best explained.
The defencemen came to the North York Rangers this season, where he recorded goal and three assists for four points in 35 games. When head coach Geoff Schomogyi reflected on Best’s season with the Rangers, he was very impressed.
“Ethan brought tremendous leadership qualities on and off the ice to NYR. We are happy to see Ethan move on and he will be missed,” head coach Schomogyi said.
Best is grateful for the opportunity that the Rangers gave him. He believes the NYR culture and coaches helped him achieve this feat.
“It’s been a privilege to play for NYR. The team culture is unlike anything I’ve experienced before. As a rookie, I felt accepted from the beginning and was encouraged to become a better version of myself both on and off the ice. The coaches practice what they preach and set a good example for us to follow. I’m thankful for the entire NYR family. I’ll never forget my time as a Ranger and will carry what I’ve learned with me going forward. Once a Ranger, always a Ranger,” he explained.
Best becomes the 36th Ranger to commit to either the NCAA or USPORTS since 2016.
