Buffalo falls to North York in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The North York Rangers’ Chris Sekelyk scored 4:38 into overtime to beat the Buffalo Jr. Sabres, 5-4 (OT).

With the win, North York evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

Sekelyk had a great game for the Rangers, netting two goals.

North York forced Buffalo goalie Tucker Weppner to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

North York additionally got points from Michael Morgan, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. North York also got a goal from Keegan Blasby as well. Other players who recorded assists for North York were Jeremy Szabo, who had one and Grayden Gottschalk and Shawn Tessier, who each chipped in two.

The Jr. Sabres’ offense rang up 40 shots on the Rangers’ net.

Buffalo was led by Griffin Lunn, who tallied one goal and one assist. Lunn scored 2:19 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Tim Nicksic picked up the assist. Buffalo also got points from Nicksic, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Buffalo included Bryce Ferrell and Joshua Biasillo, who scored one goal each. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Aaron Reinig, Wilson Vershay, Christian DiFelice, and Nicholas Bondra, who contributed one each.

Gianluca Baggetta rejected 36 shots on goal for North York. The Rangers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Tucker Weppner made 33 saves for the Jr. Sabres on 38 shots. Buffalo incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
