The magical season for the North York Rangers came to an end Friday night as the team fell 4-3 to the St. Michael’s Buzzers in a dramatic double overtime Game 6 contest at the Herb.

North York battled hard from start to finish and when Franco Loparco and John Carpino put the home team up 2-0 after 40, proceedings looked in order to force a Game 7.

Yet St. Mike’s responded with three quick goals to open the third before Ranger Captain Dana Tenenbaum was a surprise scorer to even the game with 10:06 to go in regulation, batting the puck out of the air past a sprawling Adrian Ignagni.

The first and most of the second overtimes seemed to belong to North York as chance after chance went wayward before veteran forward Jordan Merante found the game-winner for the Buzzers at 7:46, slipping the puck through a screened Jason Pucciarelli.

North York’s post-season ends in the OJHL Southwest Conference final; a large accomplishment that builds off of last year’s first-round playoff exit.
