North York, Ontario – The North York Rangers would like to congratulate Nick Campoli, Joey Maziarz and Jett Alexander on getting named to Canada East’s training camp for the upcoming World Junior A Challenge.
Campoli has proven himself to be one of the OJHL’s most dangerous offensive forwards. Committed to Clarkson University in the NCAA, Campoli was named the OJHL’s top prospect last year after recording 32 points in just 20 games. Currently first in team scoring with 27 points in 26 games, Campoli was one of two players drafted to the NHL from the OJHL, going to the newest expansion team, the Vegas Golden Knights.
Maziarz has had a wonderful impact for the Rangers since joining the club last year, getting named to the OJHL’s 2nd All-Prospect team last year. In 26 games this season, Maziarz has put up three goals and twelve points while earning lots of ice time in his sophomore campaign.
Considered one of the best goalies in the OJHL, Alexander has posted nine wins and boasts a .934 SV% in 16 games played. Last year, after starting the season with Georgetown, Alexander returned home to the Rangers, where he’s been near the top in all goalie stats in his first season as an OJHL starting goalie. Alexander was also named to the NHL’s most recent Central Scouting Watch List for the upcoming draft, set to take place in Dallas, Texas this June.
Campoli, Maziarz and Alexander all recently represented the Rangers at the Eastern Canada Cup Challenge in Trenton, an event where all three players impressed scouts and fans alike.
Training camp for the 2017 World Junior A Challenge will take place December 2-5 at the MasterCard Centre in Etobicoke, Ont.
