Carpino’s three points lead Rangers past Jr. Canadiens

John Carpino scored three points including the game-winner as the North York Rangers used three first-period goals to down the Toronto Junior Canadiens 4-2 on Saturday.

Carpino, last year’s team point leader with 83, now has 11 points in his last six games.

Liam Kerins also added three points and extended his point-scoring streak to five games, while Zach Fung and Adam Valadao also had multi-point outings.

Kerins, Corey Kalk – who has a nine-game point-scoring streak of his own going – and Carpino all tallied in the first period, while Valadao added his goal 4:45 into the second.

Gianluca Baggetta made 30 saves for the win, improving his record to 4-0 on the campaign.

Baggetta has only allowed an impressive 10 goals on 145 shots so far this season.

The Rangers are next in action Sunday afternoon when they host the Stouffville Spirit, puck drops at 3:00 p.m. at the Herb.
