North York almost battled back from down 6-0 mid-way through the second period, but could not complete the miraculous comeback as the Rangers fell 7-5 to the Georgetown Raiders on Saturday night.
The five goals allowed was the second most that the Raiders had conceded in a game so far this season, as they all came in a row from the 12:59-mark of the second period to the 18:55-mark of the third.\
Gabriel Valenzuela led the charged with three goals and an assist while Matthew Whittaker also added four helpers to forge into a four-way tie for second place in league scoring.
Michael Morgan and Ryan Takamatsu had the other goals for North York.
League point-scoring leader Steve Hladin paced Georgetown with four points of his own while Anthony Marra had three assists in the contest.
John Adams’ power-play marker at 8:15 of the second period held up as the game winner.
Jake Clements and Francois Cote also added tallies for the Southwest Conference leading Raiders.
The Rangers are back in action Sunday afternoon for their ‘Pink at the Rink’ game in support of breast cancer research. Puck drops vs. the St. Michael’s Buzzers at 3 p.m. at the Herb Carnegie Centennial Arena.
