Many predicted 2012/13 would be John Carpino’s breakout season.

They were right.

The native of Vaughan had a hat trick by the 16:25 mark of the first period, and ended the afternoon with five goals as the Rangers pounded Milton 9-5 at the Herb.

After 20 games thus far on the season, Carpino has eclipsed his previous season totals in every offensive category, and in 28 fewer games.

Corey Kalk extended his point-scoring streak to nine games, and has four multi-point contests in a row adding a goal and five assists.

Adam Valadao also had a goal and five assists, giving the Rangers top line a combined 18 points on the afternoon.

Sophomore defenceman Pat Piacentini scored his third goal of the season, and tied his rookie-season point total of 19 in 27 less games.

Jacob Keogh made 24 saves for his fifth win of the season.
