North York Rangers forwards Corey Kalk and John Carpino have been selected to represent the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Southwest Conference in the 2013 Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge.
The event includes teams from the OJHL’s two conferences, as well as the Central Canadian Hockey League, the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League and the Quebec AAA league, and runs from Dec. 27-29 in Terrabonne, Que.
Carpino, a Vaughan native committed to NCAA Division I Western Michigan, is in the midst of a 10-game point-scoring streak and sits third in league scoring with 43 points in 29 games.
Kalk, a Dartmouth College (NCAA Division I) commit from Thornhill, has 24 points in 22 games and had three assists in four games for Team Canada East in the 2013 World Junior A Challenge.
Both are 19 years of age and are assistant captains for the Rangers.
A total of 13 players from the South Division will represent the conference while Newmarket Hurricane Justin Maiolino – the nephew of North York assistant coach Joe Maiolino – will suit up for the Northeast.
