Milton downs North York in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

The Milton Icehawks’ Sean Perichak scored 1:02 into overtime to beat the North York Rangers, 2-1 (OT).

Milton was led by goalie Cosimo Lazzarino, who finished with 32 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Lazzarino will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 4.1.

North York’s power play was ineffective against the Icehawks’ penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Milton’s penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Icehawks finished with 24 penalty minutes.

Milton additionally got points from Jordan Anderson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Milton received assists from Brendan Doherty, who had one.

The Rangers did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. North York puts an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game. The Rangers forced Milton goalie Lazzarino to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. North York could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.
