North York Adds Jeff Angelidis To Staff

North York has brought in former Niagara Ice Dogs coach Jeff Angelidis to be the teams new Director of Player Personnel & Head Coach.

Angelidis has spent the last 13 years coaching across Ontario, nearly 10 of those years spent in the OJHL as both a coach and GM.

A slow start to the season brought the change into action for North York, currently sitting last in the East with just 1 win through 16 games.

One of the many things that made this opportunity so exciting to Angelidis was the chance to work the Henrich brothers again.

“I used to coach the Toronto Jr. Canadians with Michael (Henrich) and I worked with Adam during my time with Niagara Ice Dogs, knowing how dedicated and committed they are to their craft and how similar we all think the game made this an exciting opportunity.”

That familiarity also led to a great relationship between Angelidis and Owner Adam Henrich who had high praise for the Rangers new bench boss.

“Jeff is an experenced coach who comes with a history of success. He’s a veteran in this league and has developed many players through to the next level. He is a high energy coach who demands results and is a strong leader. The North York Rangers are proud to have him as our new Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel. We believe he will come in and change the culture and get us back to the success that goes with this organizations history.

Angelidis won’t get much time to prepare before his first game with the Rangers, as North York plays 3 games in 4 days this weekend. He’ll make his debut Saturday against the Stouffville, his home debut Sunday against Haliburton County and it’ll close out against a familiar face for him the team he used to Coach the Toronto Jr. Canadians on Tuesday.

But for a Rangers team with the 3rd most goals allowed and 4th most penalty minutes in the early season, Angelidis knows that attention to detail is going to be important with this group.

He emphasized commitment to the little things, and the details in discipline as two things he tries to instill on any players that he coaches and then from there he’ll start progressing onto other aspects to improve the team.

Michael Henrich will remain on the bench and as General Manager of the Rangers.
