North York rides Baggetta to victory over Georgetown, 3-1

Gianluca Baggetta had a standout game with 31 saves, and the North York Rangers beat the Georgetown Raiders 3-1.

The win gave North York a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Rangers were led by Chris Sekelyk, who racked up one goal. Sekelyk scored 5:57 into the third period to make the score 2-1 North York.

North York kept Georgetown’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Andrew Masters made 42 saves on 45 shots.

North York also had goals scored by Ted Hunt and Louis Kereakou, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for North York were Nick Campoli, who had one.

The Raiders put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Rangers to score on any of their five power plays. North York was unable to stop Georgetown from sending pucks towards the net, and the Raiders eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Georgetown was led by Jordan Crocker, who scored the team’s only goal. Crocker scored 14:09 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Georgetown. Brendan Jacome picked up the assist.

The Rangers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Raiders incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
