November Completed- Rangers Recap

The final stretch of November was a busy one for the Rangers, with three games in five days. North York looking to build off Sundays win against the Oakville Blades. The first one on the road against the Lindsay Muskies.

The third matchup of the season between the two teams with Lindsay taking the first two meetings.  North York found themselves trailing 3-0 through the first two periods. Connor Irwin (6) would be the lone goal scorer of the third period as the Rangers dropped this one by a score of 3-1. Amir Valiullin made 50 saves in a losing effort, while Anthony Di Trani and Matthew Babiy each assisted on the Irwin goal.

Next up was a matchup against the St.Michaels Buzzers on home ice. Winners of two straight at the Herb, it was going to be a difficult game for the Rangers against one of the leagues best offences led by David Elmy. The lone goal scorer of the first would be Elmy as the Rangers trailed 1-0 after the opening frame. Early in the second John Kenney (2) would tie the game up on a goal assisted by Niko Ecoomopolous and Anthony Di Trani, from there it was all Buzzers. St. Michaels would score four straight goals including another three from David Elmy in a 5-1 victory. Dylan Dewachter stopped 45 of the 50 shots he faced in the loss, snapping the Rangers two game home winning streak.

The final game of November was on the road taking on the Aurora Tigers in Auroras annual School Day game. Nicolas Morvan made his first start between the pipes for North York. Peter Smith (8) would open the scoring towards the end of the second period, but Eric Li would answer back to tie it up for Aurora less than a minute later and the two teams were deadlocked 1-1 after two periods. With under a minute to go in the third the game looking destined for overtime, captain Cian Noble would beat Tigers goalie Erik Powers for his first of the year with under 40 seconds to go in the third. That would go on to be the game winning goal netting the Rangers their third win in seven games.  Nicolas Morvan stopping 47 shots in his debut as a Ranger.

North York continued to make moves this past week, trading goaltender Amir Valiullin to the Toronto Jr. Canadiens, in return the Rangers received defenceman Michael Zuyev.
