North York Rangers forward Nick Campoli has been named to Team East for the CJHL Top Prospect Game by NHL Central Scouting.

The game, which is set to go in Cornwall, ONT., on Jan. 25, 2017, features 40 of the top NHL prospects from around Tier II Junior ‘A’ hockey in Canada.

Campoli, 17, has 10 points in the six contests he has played in this season thus far, counting at least a point in each game to date. Throughout the season, he has been named as a ‘C’ list skater to watch on NHL Central Scoutings watch list ahead of the 2017 NHL Draft in Chicago this up-comming summer.

In 53 career OJHL contests, Campoli has massed 52 points, and his play has earned him a commitment to play for the Clarkson University Golden Knights of ECAC in NCAA Division I, tentatively beginning next season.

The Etobicoke native is in his second season with North York, joining the club out of the Toronto Jr. Canadiens minor midget ’99’s’ one year ago.

“It’s an honour to be selected as one of the 40 players chosen,” he said.

“Being one of these players comes from hard work, not only on the ice but off of it as well. It should be a pretty exciting game to play in knowing the turnouts this event has had over the previous years. What I put into the game is what I am going to get out of it, and obviously getting drafted into the NHL has been one of my goals as long as I can remember.”

The centerman joins eight other OJHLers at the contest, with five of the nine coming from the South Division.

Current R.P.I. defencer Will Reilly was the last player to represent the Rangers at the event, doing so in Oakville in 2015.
