Rangers battle back to take 6-5 win from Tigers

Down 5-2 late into the second period, the North York Rangers scored 4 consecutive goals including the winner in overtime to defeat the Aurora Tigers 6-5 tonight in Aurora. Rangers trailed 2-1 at the end of the first with Anthony Bergin scoring the North York goal from Brendan Wise and Mike Mazzulla. Jason Kelly tied it up from Eric Desjardins before the Tigers reeled off 3 goals in 8 minutes to seemingly put the game out of reach. Peter Rodrigues started the comeback from Zach Pilote and Joe Serpe at 14:31 and just over a minute later Mazzulla made it 5-4 from Jesse Hebscher and Nunziato Fattore at 15:45. Andrew Amodeo tied it at the :36 mark from Serpe and Bergin.There was no more scoring in regulation time but just 1:51 into OT, Kelly fired the winner from Pilote to give North York the win. Referees Jason Goldenberg and Dave Gauthier called 18 penalties with each team scoring once on the power play. Rangers return home on Sunday having won 3 straight games to play the Huntsville Otters.
