Rangers close out regular season with OT win

Michael Morgan gave the North York Rangers a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Orangeville Flyers when he scored 1:15 into the extra period.

Morgan had a great game for North York, netting two goals.

Orangeville’s power play was ineffective against the Rangers’ penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

North York racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and one major for 55 minutes in penalty time. The Rangers surpassed its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. North York forced the Flyers goalie Nicholas Latinovich to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

North York also got a goal from Jake Harris as well. In addition, North York received assists from Gabriel Valenzuela, who had two and Ted Hunt, Zachary Fung, and Max Novick, who each chipped in one.

Orangeville’s offense rang up 31 shots on the Rangers’ net. The Flyers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 54 minutes in penalties during the game.

Orangeville was led by Kosta Likourezos, who had two goals. Likourezos scored the first of his two goals at 19:12 into the second period to make the score 2-1 North York. Likourezos’ next tally made the score 2-2 with 18:26 left in the third period. Ryan Anton assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for Orangeville were Colin Rigney, who had one.

Gianluca Baggetta made 29 saves for North York on 31 shots. The Rangers registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. For North York, Kyle Clarke was ejected from the game. Latinovich recorded 31 saves for the Flyers.
