Chris Sekelyk had a goal and an assist while new captain Kyle Clarke and Keegan Blasby also added two helpers as the North York Rangers cruised past the Milton Icehawks to open the 2016-17 Ontario Junior Hockey League season with a 5-1 victory.
Shawn Tessier, Rocco Andreacchi, Ryan Hunt, and Adam Giacomin had the other goals, while Jeremie Lintner stopped 30 of 31 shots in the win.
Alex Daigle had the response for Milton, and Will Rawski made 40 saves in the Icehawk net.
New North York head coach Geoff Schomogyi and his staff take their first win in their first appearance behind the Rangers bench, and will be looking to make it two in a row to start the year Sunday afternoon as the club takes on the Kingston Voyageurs at 3 P.M. at Victoria Village Arena in North York.
