Rangers dominate Sabres in Game 1

John Carpino scored four points and the Rangers found the back of the net four times in the second period en route to a resounding 5-1 victory in Game 1 of their second round best-of-seven series versus the Buffalo Junior Sabres.

Corey Kalk had his fifth three-point contest out of seven playoff games thus far, extending his league-leading post-season scoring total to 16 points over that span.

Charles Lapierre and Taylor Pryce also tallied as North York took a 1-0 series lead on Wednesday at the First Niagara Center, the home of the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres

Adam Valadao added two assists.

In the other Southwest Conference series, St. Mike’s took a 2-0 series lead with a 4-3 overtime win in Georgetown.

The Rangers and Jr. Sabres reconvene on Friday evening at the Herb for Game 2, with puck drop at 7 p.m.
