Ted Hunt scored to extend his five-game point streak but was not enough to prevent the North York Rangers (2-6) from falling 6-2 to the Toronto Jr. Canadiens (5-4) on Sunday at the Governor’s Showcase.
Hunt, a former draft pick of the Ontario Hockey League’s St. Michael’s Majors, now has eight points in eight contests so far this season.
Andrew Cipollone and Gianluca Baggetta split the crease for the Rangers, stopping 20 shots collectively.
Nick Zanette had the other goal in the game for North York, the second of his rookie campaign thus far.
Kennedy Duguid paced the Jr. Canadians with three points on the day, while Will Lawrence added two goals.
Aaron Spivak, Anthony Trujillo and Nicholas Jarzabek had the other goals for Toronto.
The Rangers will look to get back into the win column on Tuesday when they travel south of the border to take on the Buffalo Jr. Sabres. Puck drops at 7:30 pm. – Jamie Neugebauer
