Rangers fall to Chargers in shootout

Daniel DErcole scored his first goal as a Ranger and Kyle Thacker made his debut but North York fell 3-2 to the Mississauga Chargers in a shootout on Saturday night.

Jason Pucciarelli made 44 saves and has now given up three goals or less in eight-straight starts.

John Carpino’s assist on Patrick Piacentini’s second-period goal extended his point-scoring streak to seven games while the captain’s tally moved him into a tie for first in the Ontario Junior Hockey League in power-play markers by defencemen.

Piacentini currently sits fourth in league scoring among defenders.

Thacker added four penalty minutes in his first game as a Ranger.

North York returns to action Sunday afternoon for the Pink in the Rink event when it takes on the Toronto Junior Canadiens, puck drops at the Herb Carnegie Centennial Arena at 3 p.m.
