Adam Valadao scored twice in regulation but it was not enough as the Rangers fell 5-4 in a shootout in a wild home affair against Orangeville on Sunday afternoon.

Jason Pucciarelli made 30 saves in his home debut for North York while rookie Taylor Welsh stopped 33 pucks for the Flyers.

Michael Florindo scored his first as a Ranger with 8:32 left in regulation time to give the hosts the lead, but Keegan Ackerland tipped home a Kyle Thacker point shot on the power play at 18:13 to send it to extra time.

Liam Kerins assisted on Valadao’s second goal, and snapped home North York’s only shootout marker.

Orangeville took the game when captain Blake Forslund beat Pucciarelli low to the blocker side with the Flyers’ third attempt.

The Rangers will look to get back into the win column on Wednesday evening when they host the Toronto Jr. Canadians. Puck drops at 8:00 pm.
