The North York Rangers are proud to announce that Adam Giacomin has committed to Western New England University of the Division III Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
“I went on a visit and their campus is beautiful, I liked it there a lot,” said Giacomin.
“The community of the campus is incredible, there are only 1100 students, so its like being back in high school, and the environment is great. It is really nice aesthetically too.”
Giacomin, 19, is a quick-footed, physical defenceman that was acquired by the Rangers in the off-season from the Orangeville Flyers.
Adam has amassed 14 points and 121 penalty minutes in 86 career games in the OJHL.
“I think I have been doing well this year,” he said.
“I feel like I am playing with a lot more confidence than I did last year. It comes from the faith Coach Hughes has in me to play minutes, and I have carried my physical game over from the past, but I have added more confidence on the puck and as a player overall. I believe in myself to do more things, and that is huge.”
A Richmond Hill native, Giacomin played his midget hockey for the South Central Coyotes of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association.
Western New England University is in Springfield, MA., and is the home of the Golden Bears.
