The North York Rangers have signed defenceman Peter Muzyka, the club announced Saturday.
Muzyka, 16, is a 6-foot-3, 178-pound product of nearby Thornhill, ONT., and was selected in the fourth round, 70th overall by the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the recent 2016 Ontario Hockey League draft.
The former Toronto Titans minor midget has two games of junior hockey experience already, featuring as a 15-year-old call-up for the Ontario Junior Hockey League North Division’s Aurora Tigers.
“He’s got all the tools,” said one OHL scout. “Smooth skater, size, good shot.”
Muzyka turned 16 in mid May.
