The North York Rangers scored twice early against the Buffalo Jr. Sabres to shutout their American opponents 3-0 on Wednesday night.

The Rangers didn’t like how the Sabres have treated them this season, so they decided two goals in the first period was a good way to make up for it.

At 11:26, Jesse Tucker’s shot was re-directed in by Matthew Hubbarde, who appeared to fly at a million miles per hour around the Sabres net. It was a good start for the Rangers, who were looking to avenge a 3-0 loss to the Sabres the last time the two teams met for a Wednesday evening contest in North York.

Four minutes later, on nearly an identical play, the Rangers scored on the power play. This time, Kyle Clarke got his second assist of the night when his shot was tipped in by Noah Jordan, good for Jordan’s 9th goal of the season.

The Sabres needed one late in the game, but all their chances were stopped by Muise and the Rangers defenceman. Noah Jordan poured salt in the wound with his second of the night, a beautiful breakaway backhander, to give his team the 3-0 victory.\

Colby Muise was on his game on Wednesday, with the OJHL goalie of the month doing everything he could to secure his third shutout of the year. While his 27 saves weren’t the most he’s had this year, some of the saves he had to make to keep the Sabres off the scoresheet will haunt Buffalo on their trip back over the border.

The Rangers will play their final home game of 2017 on Sunday when they welcome the St. Michael’s Buzzers to the Herb at 3:00 PM. Before that, however, the Rangers will meet up with the Burlington Cougars on the road, a 7:30 PM start at Appleby Arena.
