The North York Rangers finished the weekend with a 3-0 win over the Mississauga Chargers at home on Sunday afternoon.
The Rangers were strong on the penalty kill on Sunday, killing off four opportunities from the Chargers in the first period. The Rangers would settle down in the second, but killing Mississauga’s flying offense was critical in North York’s eventual victory.
At 10:31 in the middle frame, the Rangers found themselves in the lead on their 26th shot of the game. Noah Robinson would pot the goal past Stefano Durante when he was in the right spot for a Davis Park rebound, shovelling it past Durante to make it 1-0.
Four minutes later, the Rangers doubled their advantage. On a transition play, Grayden Gottschalk passed the puck to Krieger after just breaking into the zone. Krieger didn’t waste much time firing it home in the slot, beating Durante glove side for his ninth goal at home on the season. Nick Leshuk would score the final goal for the Rangers, hitting the empty net square in the middle from 200ft out to cap off the night.
Like usual, Colby Muise was lights out in net. He only had to make 18 saves, but many of them were dangerous opportunities and he was able to keep everything out of his precious net. His team in front of him did a fantastic job of cutting chances towards the net, something that would result in the Rangers finishing with a 3-0 victory.
The Rangers will travel to Buffalo next on Wednesday for a 7:00 PM start against the Sabres. The team will then travel to Orangeville on December 2nd before hosting the Aurora Tigers at the Herb on Sunday at 3:00 PM.
