Rangers forward John Carpino clearly loves playing against Buffalo
The Vaughan-native scored and assisted on Adam Valadao’s first-period goal, and Liam Kerins scored the shootout winner as North York defeated the Jr. Sabres 3-2 on Wednesday in up-state New York.
Carpino now has five points in the Rangers’ two games against Mike Peca’s team.
Sabres forward Max Mikowski scored the only power-play goal in a game where both teams had eight man-advantage opportunities.
Valadao tied it up just over a minute afterwards, and Carpino gave the visitors the lead seven minutes into the second.
Pat Egan evened the score 3:09 into the third, forcing overtime and eventually a shootout.
Zach Fung and Tyler Gjurich both had shootout goals as well.
Jacob Keogh made 25 saves for his first OJHL victory, while Bobby Bloomfield faced 33 shots in his second straight defeat at the hands of the Rangers.
The same two teams battle for the third time in five games on Sunday at the Herb – North York beat Buffalo 6-4 on Sept. 23.
Notes: The Jr. Sabres had won three straight heading into the game
