The effort was clearly there, but the result ultimately evaded the Rangers as they fell 4-2 in Oakville on Friday night.

Ryan Kinsella and Corey Kalk both scored, but North York just did not get the bounces despite out-shooting the Blades 36-18.

Oakville displayed their power-play prowess going 3-for-4 on the game, and with the exception of an empty-netter, accounted for all of the home team’s offence.

Rangers captain Dana Tenenbaum picked up an assist in his return to the line-up while Pat Piacentini and John Carpino also added helpers.

North York returns to action Saturday night for another tough match-up against the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots in Etobicoke.
