North York lost 4-3 to the same team two days ago at home, and was shorthanded 11 times on that occasion.

Two goals from Corey Kalk and John Carpino in just over two minutes gave the Rangers an early lead at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex. Though Oakville battled back coach Dean’s squad held a 3-2 lead heading into the first intermission after carrying the play.

The rest of the game belonged to the Blades.

Oakville out-scored North York 6-1 in the second and third periods with two in the middle frame, and four in the last one.

Chris Aitcheson’s third of the year at 13:42 of the third period made it 6-4, and gave the Rangers hope; but two more Oakville markers, including one just over a minute later by Vince Cerone, snuffed out the comeback before it started.

Avery Allen and Jacob Keogh faced 29 shots in the North York goal, while Evan Buitenhuis stopped 25 pucks to get his fifth win of the season.

The Rangers fall to 1-3 on the season, and will try to get back in the win column Saturday night in Orangeville.
