Three North York Rangers have been selected to represent the Ontario Junior Hockey League in the Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge tournament set to go Nov. 14-16 at the MasterCard Centre for Hockey Excellence in Etobicoke.

Forwards Gabriel Valenzuela and Matthew Whittaker will feature for Team OJHL Coffey at the event, while rookie defenceman Will Reilly is set to play for Team OJHL Oates.

Valenzuela, 19, is a native of Brampton and currently leads all North York players in scoring with 35 points after 20 games.

Whittaker, 19, is committed to Mercyhurst University, and is second on the Rangers with 32 points over the same span.

Reilly, 17, is from Toronto and leads all rookie defencemen in the OJHL with 15 points in 19 contests.

The tournament includes four representative squads from the OJHL, two each from the Central Canadian Hockey League and the Quebec Junior Hockey League, and one from the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League.

“I think it’s all positive,” said Rangers head coach Mark Joslin.

“They are going to be playing with and against the elite guys in the league. The competition is going to be much greater, and I think they will have a great experience.”
