Bobby Polachek racked up one point to lead the Trenton Golden Hawks to a 6-1 victory over the North York Rangers.
Trenton excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. North York was unable to stop the Golden Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Trenton eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.
Trenton also got points from Danny Liscio, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Chrisitian Lloyd, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Brady Wiffen, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Zach de Concilys also scored for Trenton. In addition, Trenton received assists from Liam Morgan, Tyler Donaldson, Matt Pizzo, Luke Hincenbergs, and Hunter Fargey, who contributed one each.
The Rangers were held below their usual level of production. North York puts an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game.
The Rangers were led by Matthew Whittaker, who scored the team’s only goal. Whittaker scored 13:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North York. Zachary Fung assisted on the tally.
The Golden Hawks’ Justin Kapelmaster stopped 24 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Trenton incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Gianluca Baggetta made 36 saves for North York on 42 shots. The Rangers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
