Captain Dana Tenenbaum scored his first goal of the season (playoffs or otherwise), but the North York Rangers have been pushed to the brink of elimination after a 5-2 defeat at the hands of the St. Michael’s Buzzers on Wednesday in Game 5.
Tenenbaum opened the scoring and while Ryan Kinsella deflected in a Michael Giacometti point shot at 2:14 of the second on the power play, but the Buzzers scored four straight goals – including three in the third period – to take the win comfortably.
St. Mike’s once again had a large advantage in terms of power plays, getting eight opportunities to North York’s three. The Buzzers have been at least one man up seven more times over the course of the series than have the Rangers.
North York will attempt to stave off elimination in Game 6 on Friday night at the Herb, down 3-2 in the best-of-seven conference final.
