End of October Recap- Halloween Haunts

It’s been a couple of weeks since you last got a recap. So, if you haven’t been watching every road game on FloHockey or attending every home game at the Herb Carnegie Centennial Centre, you must be itching for an update.

Before we get into the game, I think it’s worth noting the changes that have been made in the dressing room. Well not to the literal room itself.

North York hired Jeff Angelidis as their new Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel. If you want to learn more about that click right here to read all about it.

On the player side of it the team acquired Anthony Di Trani from the Mississauga Chargers. Di Trani made his Rangers debut yesterday, but had 113 career games with the Chargers with 44 career points. He had 5 points in 11 games this season prior to the trade.

But to the on-ice results. Friday October 18th in Pickering didn’t yield the results we were looking for. A 6-1 loss to the Panthers, the lone goal coming on the power-play from Alexey Kulikov his 3rd of the season.

Following 8 days off the Rangers began a stretch of 3 games in 4 days. They played their final game of 3 straight on the road against the Stouffville Spirit.

The first game of the Jeff Angelidis era started out well, with Elias Greenwood (3) opening the scoring at the 19:59 mark of the first period, hockeys version of the buzzer beater. From there on it was back to back power-play goals in the third period by Stouffville giving them a 2-1 lead.

A late Rangers power-play and a pulled goalie gave the Rangers a 6 on 4 with a chance to tie it up, but an empty-net goal from the Spirit would be the final goal of the game resulting in a 3-1 Rangers loss.

A promising start to the weekend wouldn’t have such a strong finish. An 8-0 loss the next day against the Haliburton County Huskies, followed by a 4-0 loss against the Toronto Jr Canadiens. North York would finish the month winless, with their only point coming in the first game of the month against the Cobourg Cougars.

A strong end of the weekend on Special Teams with North York going 6/7 on the Penalty Kill, raising their penalty kill to 68% on the season.

Here’s how the Rangers start the month of November

Sunday November 3rd vs St Michaels Buzzers (11-7-0-2 3rd in East)

Wednesday November 6th @ Toronto Jr. Canadiens (11-5-0-1 4th in East)

Saturday November 9th @ Stouffville Spirit (10-7-0-3 5th in East)

Sunday November 10th vs Toronto Patriots (14-4-0-1 3rd in West)
