Alex Leader had two assists and the Rangers scored a power-play goal for the 10th game in a row but it wasn’t enough to stave off a 7-3 defeat to the Lindsay Muskies.

Matthew Whittaker, Zachary Fung and Patrick Simmonds had the goals for North York who outshot Lindsay 43-24 but had a hard time beating Muskies net minder Branden Francey.

The Rangers now hold a four-point lead over the Milton Icehawks for third place in the Southwest Conference with five games remaining in the regular season.

Kyle Thacker also added an assist.

The Rangers finish January with a record of 26-2-3-17 after 48 games.

North York is next in action Sunday afternoon when it takes on the Burlington Cougars at the Herb Carnegie Centennial Arena, puck drops at 3:00 p.m.
