The St. Michaels Buzzers’ Nick Zanette scored 20:00 into overtime to beat the North York Rangers, 4-3 (OT).
St. Michaels came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Buzzers trailed 4-2 after a power play goal by North York’s Luke Hincenbergs at 15:30 in the second period. St. Michaels knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Sam Hunter at 1:32 in the fourth period.
Cameron Wright was all over the ice for the Buzzers, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Wright scored the first of his two goals at 18:26 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Cameron Searles assisted on the tally. Wright’s next tally made the score 4-3 North York with 57 seconds left in the second period. Searles picked up the assist.
St. Michaels kept the Rangers’ goalie busy throughout the game, and Gianluca Baggettamade 29 saves on 33 shots. The Buzzers were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 24 penalty minutes.
St. Michaels additionally got points from Hunter, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Lucas Breault also scored for St. Michaels. In addition, St. Michaels received assists from Luke Branco and Finn Evans, who each chipped in one.
North York excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Rangers forced St. Michaels goalie Mark Manolescu to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.
