Sunday saw the Rangers get “beat up” both psychically and on the scoreboard as the Hamilton Red Wings dominated the ice at Herb Carnegie Centennial Arena. The game started out slow with Hamilton’s # 16 Haney, scoring on a breakaway at 12:48 in the first period. With five power plays in the first period, the Rangers had many opportunities to tie the game but could not connect with each other to find the net. Hamilton doubled their lead with 13:55 left in the second period to give them a 2-0 lead.
The third period got a little out of hand with the referees handing out 11 minor and 2 major penalties to both teams. The Rangers had every opportunity to get back in this game but still could not hold off the Red Wings, as they scored 2 more goals to make it 4-0. The Rangers finally got on the board, their only goal by #21 Bezruchko at 16:15 in the third period. In total there were 27 penalties totalling 78 minutes by both teams.
The final score of the game was 5-1 Hamilton to give North York their third straight loss and the fourth of the season.
