Shootouts still no fun for Rangers

For the 6th time this season the North York Rangers came up short in a game as they lost in the shootout 4-3 to the Dixie Beehives at Weston Arena tonight. North York led 2-1  the end of the first on goals by Brendan Wise from Zach Pilote and Marcus Yolevski from Connor Trtesham and Pilote. Rangers moved ahead 3-1 as Jason Kelly scored from Tresham to give the Rangers what appeared to be a safe lead. However, the Beehives battled back  scoring less than 2 minutes after Kelly’s marker and tied it up at 7:58 of the 3rd on a power play  goal by Stefan Thompson. With no scoring in the OT the teams went to the shootout where Joe Serpe got the Rangers off to a good start scoring first but North York was unable to bury the winner when they needed it and only defenceman Andrew Amodeo scored in the next 5 shooters as Dixie took the win 4-3. Referees Scott Ferguson and Rob Padt called 16 penalties with each team scoring on the power play. The teams will meet again tomorrow afternoon at the Carnegie Arena for the final league game before the holiday break.
