The North York Rangers shutout the Toronto Jr. Canadiens 6-0 on Sunday (Oct. 24) afternoon at the Hebert H. Carnegie Arena. It marks the third time in three weeks North York has held Toronto scoreless.

Cole O’Hara continued his impressive start to his rookie season. Off the rush, Joey Mazairz hit the 16-year-old back door to open the scoring eight and a half minutes in. Less than 30 seconds later, Cole Tucker tipped in Tyler Flack’s shot from the point for his first of the season.

Tucker returned to the favour two minutes and twelve seconds into the second frame. The 18-year-old got the puck at the side of the net and hit Flack at the other post for the third goal. Almost ten minutes later, Harrison Rees connected with Grant Spence in the slot. The rookie got enough behind the shot to squeak by Toronto’s goalie Christian Mattiace at 11:18. Flack registered his third point and second goal exactly two minutes later to push the lead to five.

Spence added his second on the afternoon less than two minutes into the third.

Jett Alexander stopped all 32 shots to pick up his ninth straight victory and 14 of the season. The 18-year-old goalie has stopped all 96 shots Toronto threw at him in the last three meeting.

North York’s winning streak hits nine games after the results and third time in three week they took down JRC. They have a chance to hit the double digit mark on Friday against the Lindsay Muskies on the road. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m.
