North York Rangers forward Ashton Stockie has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Mercyhurst University. The centerman will play for the Lakers in the 2019-2020.

In his first season with the Rangers, the 19-year-old had registered 21 points (seven goal, 14 assists) in 21 games. His impressive play earned him a roster spot at the Canada Eastern Cup in Trenton as well as a tryout invitation for Canada East at the World Junior A Hockey Challenge.

The Stratford, Ont., native was acquired from the Merritt Centennials over the summer for defenceman Peter Muzyka.
